Actually, its been a long time since we discussed cricket.

Thoughts on the one day series?

Personally I am glad it happened now than later. I always thought this unit was over-hyped. Even though they won against tough opponents, SL and PAK did not play well, and they did not win against SA, and I dont even consider the england ODI team. It is always good for indian sportsmen to have their feet on the ground. Irfan, Dhoni, Raina, Sreesanth we all over-hyped. In my mind, Dhoni deserves it. Others can still end up becoming Kanitkars, Vijay Bharadwajs or Mohantys. Can very well happen. Irfan's bowling is very dissapointing. Was glad he was dropped and not rested :) Same goes for Harbhajan who has been ineffective for a year. Though he is economical, he has forgotten how to pick wickets..

I mite be biased here - maybe because I am a Ganguly fanatic - but Dravid really fails to impress me as a captain. Though the ODI team had prospered, the test performance plummeted. The worst decision he could ever make in his life, was the bombay decision. I still cannot fathom what was going on in his mind. Playing in India, that too in Bombay, having won the previous test against Australia defending, how could he have done that? The logic of playing 3 pace bowlers was stupid, but bowling first just because of that was disgusting. So was decisions to bat first in ODIs on couple of occasions, Abu Dhabi and 3rd ODI against WI. Dravid just doesn't have it.. He acts as the best diplomat, perfect man on earth, but that is not what I expect. I expect hard nosed cricket that wins tests series, a WC.. In my honest opinion, I just do not get the gut feeling, he has got it to win a WC...

Also member of the "I HATE CHAPPELL" community. But thats for a different obvious reason :)

Any other thoughts?
